Simply Keeping Acne under Control
During the many years of my clinical experience in treating acne patients I have seen one thing in common with those that have reached the stage of blemish free complexion continually progressing, and those who are not. The cases that have been successful in staying clear are dedicated to their daily home care program and in clinic treatments on a regular basis. Those who have struggled in staying clear simply don’t stay on track.with their skin care plan. Most often they return at a later time to start all over again.
When you begin a regime to control acne you must know that effective acne therapy requires time and commitment from both, the patient and the esthetician. A clear understanding of how acne works will keep you motivativated to stay on track.
Acne is a disease, controllable but not curable. It is the controllable disorder of the follicle evolving from the buildup of dead skin cells and the increased amounts of oil that stick together and sludge up in the pores of genetically indicated individuals. The acne bacteria feed off this mixture, which leads to an inflamed condition. If left untreated can turn to a serious inflamed stage that causes scaring and emotional discomfort. The good news is that there are many ways to successfully keep acne under control. preventing scaring and keeping the skin clear without the use of drugs. We have hundreds of cases that have experienced this.
The process is cumulative. Treatment plan requires comitment of being consistent and keeping in mind to look forward for long-term benefits. There are no “quick fixes” for acne conditions.
Topical therapy needs to be simple. Over medicating, moving to fast or to aggressive will only cause irritation and slow down the process of clearing. Home care products must be used on daily biases to maintain healthy skin function (braking down the oil, killing bacteria and dissolving the dead skin). When combined with regular clinical treatments and peels, it works to remove the impactions from the follicle (extraction), reduces infection and scaring, minimizing oil production and keeping the skin at it’s best.
It is never too late to make the priority and develop good skin care habits. Your effort will be rewarded and your skin will look great - like I have seen with many of my patients that are consistent.
